M55 High Performance Cruising Yacht

This 55 foot lifting keel Performance Cruiser is currently under construction for an Auckland client with delivery due around the middle of 2011. With proven race pedigree from the drawing board of Botin Carkeek Yacht Design, who among many other successful race yachts also designed the Team New Zealand TP52 which has proven to be the dominant force on the Audi Med Cup Circuit in recent years. This project is being Project managed by Steve Marten, formerly of Marten Yachts.

The hull and deck shells, along with all internal structural members, are in carbon fibre and foam cores infused with epoxy resins. Strict quality controls have been utilised to ensure all components are built to specified weight targets.

Powered by a 75hp Yanmar marine diesel engine through a sail drive and Gori folding propeller, the M55 is also fitted with a Hyspecs hydraulic system to power the lift keel, traveller, twin backstay rams, boom vang and jib car pullers. The M55 features all electric winches and a retractable bow thruster, a 47 litre per hour Spectra watermaker is also fitted and the boat utilizes BEP's new C-Zone electrical management system.

A custom hinged carbon fibre anchor arm folds back in to the anchor locker to keep the foredeck clear and the retractable prod extends the sail plan 2 metres forward of the stem. Roller furling is utilised for the cruising jib and Code Zero, with all halyards and reef lines run under the cabin top to keep the decks clear.

The interior cabinetry is predominantly in a semi-gloss painted finish, with solid Walnut timber fiddles inlaid with carbon fibre detailing. The bench tops are Corian, while the interior soles are in solid bamboo planking over carbon and foam panels. The cockpit layout incorporates large comfortable seats to each side forward with a drop leaf table on centreline; aft are the twin wheels with adjustable helmsman's foot chocks, either side of a large lazarette hatch. The walk through transom also incorporates a swim step and custom dinghy davits, the cockpit sole and seat tops are laid with teak decking.

With her race boat construction, carbon rig and rigging from Hall Spars, Harken deck gear and a combination of Doyle's windward sails and North Sails gennakers, this yacht promises to provide very competitive racing as well as the ultimate in cruising comfort.

This vessel is due for launching around the middle of 2011.

8 metre Limousine Yacht Tender

Custom designed to match her mothership's styling, this high tech Yacht Tender now under construction is built predominantly in carbon fibre and foam core infused with epoxy resins, with weight being critical to allow easy launch and retrieval through the transom door of the 220 foot superyacht she services.

Powered by Volvo's new 5 cylinder 220hp D3 marine diesel engine, with an expected top speed of around 30 knots, this Tender also features heavily curved glass screens with a hinged centre section to facilitate boarding over the bow when necessary. A three piece sliding hatch system provides shelter from the elements for the guests, while also retracting into a removable cassette for when conditions allow for a completely open configuration. A pneumatically powered glass sliding privacy door can also be utilised to separate guests from the crew and to provide further protection from the weather.

With a gloss black hull and metallic silver interior and superstructure, teak decking to all deck and sole areas and tinted curved screens, this top quality vessel's styling is loosely based on a Venetian water taxi and will certainly not be out of place in the world's most exclusive superyacht havens.

F620 6 metre Sport and Limousine Yacht Tenders

Another two of these well proven Yacht Tenders are now currently under construction. The first two Tenders to this design, built for Kokomo III, were very well received, with the quality, finish and performance exceeding their owner's expectations. Powered by a Volvo D3 220hp marine diesel engine with stern leg, rather than the Yanmar and jet drive of the Kokomo boats, these Tenders are expected to have a top speed of around 35 knots.

A slightly lighter construction than the jet driven F620's, displacement will be around 1650kg to meet the weight restrictions of the mothership's lifting system. Construction is in female moulds using vinylester resin infused eglass laminates over foam cores. All exterior surfaces are finished in high gloss polyurethane paints to provide a top quality appearance to complement the superyachts they service.

Both Tenders feature a forward canopy deployed from a flush finished under deck recess and a Bimini cover over the centre console helm station. They are also well set up for fishing with flush mounted rod holders; the Sport version also has rocket launcher style racks on each side of the folding centre console while the Limousine is fitted with teak decking.

The boats are well protected by a substantial foam fender rather than an inflatable tube around the deck edge; this maximizes the usable interior space available within the vessels generous beam, creating comfortable seating for up to nine crew and guests, and access throughout the boats is exceptional.

These Tenders are CE certified and built to the high standards typical of Lloyd Stevenson's built craft.

These two vessels are due for launching in July 2011.

Elite 16 metre Mid Pilothouse Motor Yacht

Number fifteen of this popular Elite design to be built by Lloyd Stevenson Boatbuilders, this is a near sister ship to Crusader and Coastal Cowgirl, however it also has some of the new additions that were introduced on the latest Elite 16m to hit the water, Conquest, such as the large built in rod and tackle locker in the pilothouse and the recessed anchoring system on the foredeck.

The Mid Pilothouse layout offers some very real advantages in some areas over a typical flybridge cruiser; the ease of access to the pilothouse itself, which is reached via a few easy steps rather than a ladder, turns the helm station into another living area, meaning the helmsman is not isolated as is often the case on boats with upper level driving stations. The separate dining and saloon areas create space for different groups, while the electric window between the dinette and cockpit accentuates the indoor-outdoor flow. The three cabin, two head accommodation, including a large master cabin with ensuite, provides unparalleled comfort and privacy.

In the Mid Pilothouse design configuration the engines are amidships under the saloon sole, this allows for a flatter shaft angle which improves propeller efficiency and lowers draft. Easy access to the engine room is via a door in the forward guest cabin, while large hatches in the saloon sole cater for engine servicing and maintenance requirements. The hull form is one that performs well with modest horsepower and has excellent sea keeping qualities.

This vessel is currently for sale, and ready for an owner to customize her to their particular requirements, including choice of engines, electronics, paint colours and interior décor. Completion ready for the water could be achieved in as little as six months from time of purchase.

SPECIFICATIONS:

  • LOA: 15.8m
  • Beam: 4.9m
  • Draft: 1.1m
  • Displacement: 18,300kg
  • Fuel: 1,955L
  • Water: 920L
